A Ray of Hope: Helping Krishna Veni Find Her Way Back

On our way back from a visit, we met a 30-year-old woman named Krishna Veni, who comes from a Hindu family. She stopped our bike, asking us to run over her and end her life. She had been walking barefoot on the hot road, shouting and running. Whenever a bus or lorry approached, she would run in front of it, pleading to be killed. She has been behaving this way for the past three months.

One Sunday, we saw her again and stopped her. I gave her slippers and took her home, advising her husband not to let her wander outside. However, when they tried to keep her inside by closing the doors or gate, she threatened to hang herself. I urged her family to take her to a hospital.

After a medical examination and a brain scan, the doctor diagnosed her with severe depression, stating that some of her brain hormones were inactive. The doctor prescribed medication and explained her condition to the family.

Since then, we have been visiting her daily, offering moral support, reminding her that she has two sons who need her, and encouraging her to pray to God for healing.

For the past three days, she has been coming to my house at 9:00 AM, asking me to check her blood pressure and weight. Her BP was 170/110, and her weight was 75 kg. I reassured her, advising her not to stress, to eat on time, sleep well, and take her medication regularly. To help manage her BP, I applied ice cubes to her neck and advised her to reduce salt, chili powder, pickles, and oily foods.

At present, she is doing better. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
